Details of the Managed Web Hosting service I, and my colleagues, provide
What is Managed Web Hosting?
It's a service where me and my colleagues manage the hosting of people's websites and emails using a third-party hosting provider. It's not available to everyone - it's only open to clients of Special Design Studio and Web & Pen.
What do they get?
What they want! Very little money is made from our hosting. We provide it as a service because the people we work with want it. Here's the gist:
- You only deal with us. So no waiting on the phone for faceless hosting providers' support teams who know nothing about you and your business, and no being passed around from person to person. You contact us. We sort it.
- Faster, reliable, secure hosting at a price you'd struggle to get on your own. We use Memset, because we believe they are the best. Quality comes at a price but economies of scale help us lower the cost.
- A quicker site-build - hosting providers' procedures, flexibility and server setup are all different. If we're hosting your site, it saves time.*
- Thirty minutes work on your website each quarter. Ideal for minor tweaks, software updates and even a little search engine optimisation.
How much does it cost?
For each hosting account we bill a management fee of £35 per quarter. This covers invoicing, technical support, and up to thirty-minutes website work.
Server usage is then billed at £15 per quarter per 5GB of space required, or £15 per quarter per 20GB bandwidth, whichever is more.
What if someone has more than one website?
We can host several websites on the same account and only bill one management fee, as long as only one invoice is required. If the websites need invoicing separately, they'll require separate hosting accounts.
What about the terms?
We're not the hosts - so anyone using our Managed Hosting Service agrees to Memset's very fair Acceptable Use Policy.
